Shaffer named MCAC Player of the Week for 2nd time this season

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference has released their weekly basketball awards and for the 2nd time this season, Lady Jay Emily Shaffer has been named the MCAC Southern Division Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Shaffer, a freshman from Worthington, had a couple of big games in the Lady Jays trip up north last weekend.  Starting with a 30 point and 11 rebound performance in the Lady Jays 72-65 win over Central Lakes on Friday last week.  Shaffer followed that up with 15 points and 12 rebounds in the Lady Jays 107-25 win over Fond du Lac last Saturday, giving Shaffer an average of 22.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game in the 2 wins over the weekend.

So far this season through 11 games, Shaffer is leading the Lady Jays in scoring, averaging 17.5 points per game and 11 rebounds per game for Minnesota West.  The Lady Jays are 4-7 on the season and will host Little Priest Tribal College in a women/men doubleheader on Wednesday.
